Recognized by UNESCO as part of humanity’s intangible cultural heritage, Thai Yoga (Thai massage) is an ancient healing system. It incorporates ayurvedic principles, acupressure, and assisted yoga postures to promote holistic health of the mind, body, and spirit.
Thai Yoga uses no oils or lotions. The recipient wears loose, comfortable clothing and lies on a mat on the floor. The body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked. The legs and feet of the giver may be used to position the body or limbs of the recipient. In other positions, the hands fix the body, while the feet do the massaging.
This is the classic western massage. The treatment promotes relaxation by releasing muscle tension and has the potential to reduce pain and improve function. It includes soothing strokes, rhythmic percussion, and deep compressive movements. Done on a massage table with oils, lotions, or dry.
Deep Tissue Therapy
Firm pressure and slow strokes are used to reach deep layers of muscle and fascia. A treatment for aches, pains, and chronically contracted areas. ‘Knots’ (muscle adhesions) are stiff bands of tissue that can disrupt circulation, cause pain, limit range of motion, and cause inflammation.
The aim of deep tissue therapy is to break up scar tissue and physically break down muscle adhesions. It is very common to feel sore for a day or two after a deep tissue massage. This treatment may cause bruising.
I came for a massage to work out some FHL pain and tight calves. Shane was very thoughtful and thorough with assessing... what my needs were. Shane does an amazing job giving my massage… At the start, we go over the places I feel are tight and he makes them... feel better, but he always finds muscles that I don’t even realize are tight until he is working on them. He is excellent working on my shoulders and neck and his massage always leaves me feeling better than when I arrived.
